The tournament is another big event for Canterbury Golf to host and will follow the New Zealand Seniors Championship which will be staged at the Waitikiri Golf Club from February 9-11.

New Zealand will be looking to make amends for this year when they were defeated on The Pines at Sanctuary Cove Golf Club by 13.5-10.5 points. Australia won the Foursomes by 3.5 to 2.5, the Fourball 4-2 and halved the singles six matches apiece. The Sanctuary Cove Trophy is an annual Trans-Tasman tournament that began in 2007 for golfers aged 55 years and over. In the five tournaments since 2007, Australia has won three titles and New Zealand two.

New Zealand team: Michael Barltrop (Royal Auckland), Rodney Barltrop (Royal Wellington), John Batley (Titirangi), Robbie Bell (Ashburton), Frank Borren (Paraparaumu Beach), David Burton (Nelson), Andrew McKechnie (Hamilton), Murray Martin (New Plymouth), Phil Mosley (Waipu), Arthur Parkin (Maungakiekie), John Sanders (Christchurch) and Tony Treen (Titirangi).
