Pakistan’s top-ranked golfer now sits two strokes ahead of Mohammad Munir. Shabbir shot four birdies, twelve pars and two bogies on the second day while Munir did not enjoy the best of days on the course, returning with a card of 71 to add to his first round gross of 70. The remaining positions also remained unchanged from the opening day with Matloob Ahmed maintaining his third position with a total of 143 (71, 72). Shahid Javed 144 (72, 72), Irfan Mehmood 146 (70, 76), Talib Hussain and Afsar Ali besides Imdad Hussain, Mehroz Ilyas, Javed Inayat and Hamza Amin (147) also stand a realistic chance of turning the tides on the penultimate day.
However, the 22-year old Amin stole the limelight on the second day, returning with a card of 68, the best performance in the second round after a dull show on the opening day with a gross 79. “I am very happy with today’s performance, “said Hamza while vowing to improve on his show. “The competition is fierce but it can be countered with quality play.”
