Golf is what made Tiger Woods famous In My Opinion

(added few years ago!)

I'm tired of hearing about the car crash, the exposure that the pro golfer was cheating on his wife, the number of women coming forward claiming to have had an affair with Tiger, the trips to rehab and the apologies for his indiscretions.

While I'm not one to advocate adultery in any way, let's be clear on one thing, Tiger Woods is not the first and he will not be the last man (or celebrity) to cheat on his wife.Okay, the revelation of the above-mentioned events were exciting fodder for the masses and at first we all waited with bated breath to see what new piece of information would be revealed.

But as time went on and I got caught up with my own drama and my own life, I forgot about Tiger Woods, until the news media began staking out the rehab centre to get a shot of him coming and going. Is there any end to this madness? Apparently public apologies are not enough. In the midst of the media circus and the tabloid gossip frenzy, the only thing that caught my attention was the fact that Tiger said he does not know when he would return to golf.

That was perhaps one of the saddest statements he could have made in the midst of it all. After all, who is Tiger Woods without golf? In fact, it was golf that made Tiger Woods famous. Tiger would not be Tiger if it were not for the sport of golf.

To hear him say that he is staying away from the thing that made him famous (and rich) is kinda hard to comprehend. Not only has Tiger's departure from golf hurt the sport, it has also affected the purse and the winnings of those pro golfers who still depend on it for a living.

There is no doubt that since Tiger Woods became golf's poster boy, earnings in the sport shot up. Endorsement deals went up and those golfers who were earning chicken feed before Tiger, began earning big bucks. So, they must be saddened by the announcement that Tiger is staying away from golf for a while. But truth be told, will Tiger's hiatus from golf make him a better person? Would that help him to remain faithful to his wife?

If he does, then more power to him. But we all know that it won't.In fact, Tiger must be the most miserable man on the planet right now, because he's not getting a chance to do the thing he loves and the thing he's good at, which is play golf.

That's like Denzel Washington not being able to act or like Kobe Bryant not being able to play basketball. What does he do with his days now, sit around the house and dream about the days he was winning tournament after tournament? Why not stop the madness.

Tiger Woods has already confessed to his faults, apologized for them, sought counselling for them, now let him get on with his life. And what better way for Tiger Woods to get on with his life than getting back on the golf course where he roars the loudest.Tiger, you have learned your lesson, now get back on the greens and show them you still have what it takes to be the world's greatest golfer. Yes, even with your faults and short-comings
